Event & Membership Coordinator Berkeley Chamber of Commerce – Berkeley, CA
JOB DESCRIPTION
Summary
The Berkeley Chamber of Commerce is seeking an Event & Membership Coordinator. This position plays an integral role in the Chamber’s mission to support a vibrant local economy through networking opportunities, education and thought leadership events. This employee will be an integral component for planning and executing events, such as Ribbon Cuttings, tech seminars, monthly networking mixers, and major annual events.
General Duties
Event Coordination & Promotion
Promote, administer, and attend chamber events
Create print & digital marketing materials using Adobe Creative Suite, including promotional flyers, press releases and event signage
Coordinate third party marketing efforts, and collaborate as needed
Strategically promote events through digital, industry and local networks
Manage event logistics, including vendors, venues, food & beverage, and guest registration
Coordinate event entertainment, including music, performers, and guest speakers
Identify, prospect, solicit and secure potential partners and sponsors
Develop and execute schedule(s) for posting to various social media platforms
Member & Community Outreach
Engage and educate the community about the Berkeley Chamber’s organization and its goals
Extend outreach to diverse businesses in order to address opportunities and identify gaps within the Berkeley business community
Oversee communications efforts of the Chamber; lead the development of promotional literature and online postings; draft and distribute press releases and media inclusions
Design, publish and edit content for periodic newsletter
Introduce programs and strategies to generate buzz around the organization
Design and manage campaigns to increase awareness of the Chamber’s programs, events and initiatives, increasing membership and participation from a broad business audience
Membership Management & General Administration
Update calendar and emails in the Chamber database and website
Oversee Accounts Payable & Receivable: issue invoices and collect payments in a timely fashion
Identify and convert potential new Chamber members
Assist with administrative tasks as needed
QUALIFICATIONS
Proven customer service and relationship management skills and experience working in a business environment
Experience with CRM and/or eCommerce platforms; member relationship management experience preferred
Highly motivated with B2B sales experience
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
Knowledge of the Berkeley – and Bay Area -- business community
Able to set and meet measurable goals
Excellent organizational and follow-up skills
Outgoing and enjoys networking
A team player with good work ethic and positive attitude
Experience using Mac, Windows, email, MS Office, Adobe CS (Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop), Mail Chimp, Social Media, and customer management platforms
Ability to work extended hours to attend Chamber events and activities
