Berkeley Art Center (BAC) has occupied a long and thoughtful place in this area as a visual arts and education resource, unique in its location, design, and support of local artists and the vibrant artistic climate of the community. A beautiful arts and crafts-style structure in Live Oak Park in North Berkeley, BAC has established itself as a leading local gallery presenting the work of talented regional artists in diverse media and related public programs. Our website is quite extensive and provides an archive of exhibitions, programs and projects over the past year: www.berkeleyartcenter.org BAC's visitorship is approximately 15,000 annually, and nearly 80% of the organization?s members are local artists.Berkeley Art Center presents a variety of visual art exhibitions and related programs for its membership and the general public. Recent exhibitions have included: Metaphysical Abstraction: Contemporary Approaches to Spiritual Practice; Process & Place: The Transformative Potential of Artist Residencies; and Local Treasures: Six Extraordinary Artists (Jim Melchert, Katherine Sherwood, Squeak Carnwath, Robert Brady, Livia Stein, Gale Wagner). Exhibitions serving members and a wider group of regional artists include the annual juried exhibition, Juried@BAC, now in its 27th year, this years jurors: Carrie Lederer (Bedford Gallery) and Lauren Davies (Kala Art Institute); Intimate Nature, including artists Kim Anno and Judith Selby Lang, and the center's annual Members Showcase, a non-juried exhibition including work in all media.
