When I first got involved with the business community it was with the women's chamber of commerce.  I was told that the women who were part of the Berkeley Chamber of Commerce were called Chamber Maids!!!! They provided refreshments -- coffee, tea and cookies at all the events. The women got tired of doing that and formed the Berkeley Women's Chamber of Commerce. At one point we had more members than the main chamber.  At some point the women took over the main Chamber and the rest is history.

I was the first Asian woman (President) chairman of the board for 2 terms.
