BFHP
Berkeley Food and Housing Project (BFHP) is Berkeley’s leading provider of safety net homeless services and transitional and permanent housing services. Although we are located in Berkeley, most of the people we serve come from the Greater Bay Area. Many of our clients suffer from multiple disabilities, including psychiatric illness, physical and developmental disabilities, and substance abuse.
We also serve:
Homeless Veterans, underemployed men and women unable to afford the high cost of living in the Bay Area, as well as women and their families fleeing domestic violence.
Range of Services:
BFHP provides a full continuum of services including: Berkeley’s Men's Overnight Shelter and the North County Women's Center, two daily community meal programs, two transitional housing programs, two housing and multi-services case management centers, and a permanent supportive housing program.
BFHP was founded in 1970 by Berkeley’s faith community leaders and concerned citizens. Today, it is supported by Berkeley residents, business and governmental leaders, and serves more clients than any other homeless service provider in the East Bay.
