Leadership East Bay,  WHY YOU?

The leadership program is based on the belief that any city's most valuable resource is its people. The program empowers a diversity of individuals with knowledge, skills and inspiration. The program educates them with vital community information that reinforces their leadership qualities and ownership in the community. Download the Leadership East Bay Application here.

A class is made up of people who either work or live in Berkeley and Emeryville. They will meet one day a month, from October – May. Suggested topics for each month include; Cultural Heritage & Demographics, Environment, Land Use and Transportation, Media and Communication, Criminal Justice, Education, Health & Human Services, Government, and Economic Development.

The class will also visit different locations each month and subject experts will speak on concerns and strategies. The program provides information on community resources, identification of community concerns and interaction with city leaders. In addition, participants will be able to develop their leadership skills from instruction on leadership styles and approaches.

 

How does it start?

The program begins with a two day, out of town retreat on Thursday (evening), to Saturday (noon) date to be determined. Goals and objectives of the program are covered as well as team building activities and leadership development.

The 8-sessions on the 2nd Friday of each month from October and continue through May.

What is the cost?

The tuition for Leadership East Bay is $1,000 per participant. Send a deposit of 50% with the application. This includes lodging and food for the two-day retreat, continental breakfast and lunch during each of the eight-day sessions, as well as books and necessary materials.
