Berkeley Chamber of Commerce

Meeting Venue August - December 2010: Community Room, Berkeley Public Library, 2090 Kittredge

Monday, August 2

Over the next couple of months, we will devote the meetings of the Committee on Government Affairs, Berkeley Chamber, to consideration of key statewide propositions which will appear on the November, 2010, ballot.

On Monday, August 2, we will have a debate over

*Proposition 19, which, if passed, would legislate the Control & Tax of Cannabis

*Proposition 24, which, if passed, would deny tax breaks to high tech companies which the legislature created during the last battle to balance the budget.

The schedule will be:

12:00 - 12:15 p.m.:  Dale Sky Clare, Executive Chancellor of Oaksterdam University, Oakland, speaking in favor of Prop 19

12:15 - 12:30 p.m.:  Ron Brooks, National Narcotics Officers Association, speaking in opposition to Prop 19

12:30 - 12:45 p.m.:  Q&A

12:45 - 1:00 p.m.:  Richard Stapler, Press Secretary, Yes on Prop 24 (or a member of his staff)

1:00 - 1:15 p.m.:  Ted Green, Spokesperson for the No on Prop 24 campaign

1:15 - 1:30 p.m. -- Q&A

We look forward to a lively discussion, which will lead, at its conclusion, to a vote to recommend to the full Chamber Board that they Support or Oppose each of these two propositions.

We urge you to attend and to participate.  The event will take place in the second story Chamber Conference Room, 1834 University Avenue.  Please enter from the parking lot in the rear of the building.
