CEO Position

The Berkeley Chamber of Commerce is searching for a dynamic executive to lead the organization during a time of tremendous opportunity.

The CEO will work with the Chamber Board and membership to develop an aggressive program of economic development that builds or the inherent strengths of Berkeley - among them, a strong sense of civic participation, commitment to world class education and research institutions, innovative thinking, and tremendous human resource and talent.

These goals will be accomplished through policy engagement, political action, partnering with key stakeholders, serving and retaining existing chamber membership, and community building.

The priorities are to attract and develop green and other cutting edge industries and business in Berkeley, and to provide resources, support, and educational opportunities for entrepreneurs and small businesses, and to fit this into a compelling renewal of Berkeley as a great city for work, life and culture in the 21st Century.

The CEO will be responsible for Community/Government relations, Vision/planning, Fiscal management, Staffing, Membership expansion & retention, and Operations.

Salary Range: Base Salary of up to $100,000 depending on experience, plus and MBO Bonus program beginning in the second year of employment based on achieving measurable objectives determined in partnership with the Board of Directors.

Business degree and chamber experience STRONGLY preferred.

Process: All submitted materials will be reviewed by the search committee. The Search committee will conduct all initial interviews and invite the top three applicants to a panel interview comprised of search team members plus targeted business leaders. Final selection will be voted on by the full board.
